東京都立大学のインテリアデザインスタジオでは、人間と社会と自然を結び付け「生きるとは何か」について考えることをデザインの出発点としています。デザインを"造形を通した文化の創造"と位置づけ、精神・物質の両面から人びとの幸福を支えることを目指しデザインに向き合っています。デザインの対象は、床・壁・天井などの空間を仕切る要素に始まり、椅子・テーブル・棚・照明などの空間に配置されるもの、さらに物質として目に見えない、音・光・香りなどを含みます。デザインとは、社会に対し、未来に対し、小さな"きっかけ"という種を蒔くようなことだと考え、日々創作活動に取り組んでいます。

At Tokyo Metropolitan University's interior design studio, the starting point of design is to think about "what is life" by connecting people, society and nature. We consider design as "creation of culture", and we are working on design with the aim of supporting people's lives. The target of the design is to compose a space such as floor, wall, or ceiling. It is also placed in a space such as a chair, table, or shelf. In addition, it contains invisible substances such as sound, light and scent. We think that design is about sowing small seeds for society and the future, and we are engaged in creative activities every day.
